I Have Never Been A Beach Girl

Burned face, wet clothes, sand leftover in your pants, salty water, wind that possibly makes you catch a cold; what is so good from beach? Everytime people ask about my kind of holiday escape -- mountain or beach -- I confidently say: mountain! Yet, in my opinion, some visit to certain famous beaches is necessary. Living in Jakarta for past seven years, sounds silly if I never come to Kepulauan Seribu, doesn't it?

Disturbing picture alert: this post will show description unrelated to attached pictures. Don't get confused.

I still had doubt to go in the morning of my departure to Pulau Harapan in the northern part of Kepulauan Seribu. Such an unprepared trip, as I didn't expect anything -- not even the travelling time. When my friends and I arrived in Kaliadem Port Muara Angke, one of them told me that it will take around three hours to reach our destination.

Popularity of this island -- and some smalls other islands around -- is currently rising, and by Saturday morning I came there, around 200 people filled the boat when the capacity was much less than that. With July-August windy weather, I was lucky that I didn't get a seasick.

Arriving midday, snorkeling was on our main schedule. Taking short break, the guide delivered us to area around Macan Island. It was my first experience and annoyingly I could not touch any fish there. They were so cute; and corals were ummm some of them had weird shape like human brain. Just to be seen from further space!

One thing you may like here is that you can see both sunset and sunrise. I spent sunset on the way from snorkeling to the island; and next sunrise was cloudy and windy yet surprisingly calm. What is better than a tranquility of a morning sun? It gives best filter to our pictures!!

I have never been a beach girl. But we can't run forever, can we?

And now that I post my picture like this, it's clear that my face is asymmetrical.
