Bangkok (and Pattaya), 3 October 2014

Everything we had had planned for this day could not be cancelled, as our group had two big visit that cost a lot (compared to others) with exact date.
1. Madame Tussauds Bangkok
2. Tiffany Shows in Pattaya

Here we go....

Friday, 3 October 2014
We bought ticket for Madame Tussauds Bangkok online in its website. By arriving before 1200, we could get 40% discount (okay the promotion may be varied through the time). The museum was located in Siam Discovery Shopping Centre, only one BTS station far from Ratchathewi BTS Station.

We went on 0800 and guess what.... the mall had not opened yet. Kzl. It opened at 1000 and we had to sit at the nearest park until the mall and its museum opened. It was quite quite in the museum, ain't like one in Hongkong (my friend said in Hongkong the museum was full of visitors). Well, in our 2 hours visit, here are some of the pictures:

11. Jackie Chan and  my friends

After taking a short lunch, we departed to Pattaya soon! We have ticket for 1800 show and trip from Bangkok to Pattaya may take 3-5 hours, depends on the traffic.

We took BTS from Siam Station to Ekkamai Station. There is Ekkamai Bus Terminal near Ekkamai BTS Station, and a lot of Bangkok-Pattaya buses and travels available. Almost every hour buses or travels departed, although I'm not sure what time the latest bus available. It was 1300 when we arrived in Ekkamai Bus Terminal and ready for Pattaya. Average fare for a single trip was THB 130, if I'm not mistaken.

As expected, there was traffic in Bangkok and we reached Pattaya at 1700, leaving only an hour to look for Tiffany Show took place. The actual plan was visiting Pattaya Beach (turned out it looked like Kuta) but the shortage of time led us to directly went to Tiffany Show. By motorcycle. A driver and two passengers per vehicle. Because we saw no taxi around.

Tiffany Show is a popular ladyboy show in Pattaya, similar like Alcazar Show. Both shows are the most popular in Pattaya. I bought the ticket in my friend's travel, getting 40% discount compared to published price on the spot. I just needed to show my booking and switch it with the ticket on ticket booth. It was quite hard to buy the ticket online as both Tiffany Show's and Alcazar Show's website does not sell ticket online. There is one recommended Thailand's online booking web here based on review in Tripadvisor.

Well I don't really sure why I picked Tiffany Show rather than Alcazar Show, but more comparison can be seen here.

The show took place for around 1.5 hours, full of music, dancing, sparkling costumes and of course transgenders!!!! Or transgender-to-be. We are not allowed taking pictures or making video during the show and there will always be person in charge to remind spectator that tried to turn their recorder on. Overall the show was amazing. One thing amazed me so much was realising that all those beauty ladies on the stage was actually boys (or had ever been a boy in their past life).

After each show, some artists with most beautiful costumes gathered in front lobby to let people take pictures with them, with tip charge, of course. There was an announcement that tipping should be at least THB 40 for each ladyboy. After some rushing moment of people snatching, there was a bell ringing, noting that the next show will be started soon and those ladyboys needed to go backstage.

After the show session.
I did not get too much picture here. Some pictures maybe in my friend's camera.

At 2000 we took a little walk along Pattaya Beach (it's dark and quiet and I don't know maybe we were just in wrong place) then continued to bus terminal to catch 2100 bus to Ekkamai.

Honestly, the strategy was not quite right. We should have allocated a full day for Pattaya, or maybe a night of sleepover. Half day was really tiring, long trip hours and short time to enjoy the place.
