Kuala Lumpur, 15 - 17 August 2014

Such a short trip! I arrived in KL at 13.00 on 15 August and left 48 hours after. I had no intention to come when suddenly my aunt asked me to accompany her. Let's see what I got from there.

1. Accommodation
My hotel is in KL Sentral area (the name is Prescott Hotel KL Sentral) that is highly populated by Indian. There is bus station that connects directly to/from airport (I flew with Air Asia, thus the airport is KLIA2) in this area, and this is the main reason why I chose KL Sentral to stay. If I am not mistakes, there is two bus providers for route KLIA2 - KL Sentral: Sky Bus (owned by Air Asia) and the other one I forget the name hahaha. The ticket price is RM 10 per person.

Above the bus station, there's train station that connects us to many routes within Kuala Lumpur.

Overall the stay was good. The hotel was clean, offered large room, complete basic amenities, friendly staffs and cheap price. However, clearly it was not in tourists area.

2. Batu Caves
Located in the north part of KL. This is a worship site for Hindu people. I took train from KL Sentral station to Batu Caves station for RM 2, and then walk to the site for free. Nice place!

I visited this place on 15 August around 4 PM local time. Here are some of the pictures.

Setting of Asia Next Top Model 2

5 RM for single hand

3. Central Market
This is a situated souvenirs market (and the one promoted in local tourist map), but the price is often overpriced. I think almost all the prices are set too high. Yet this is a cozy place to shop (because it is quiet!). I visited this place on 15 August at night.

4. Chinatown
Walking distance from Sentral Market, near Pasar Seni bus station. The place is full of cheap souvenirs shop and restaurants, this place is really really full at night. The formal gate tells us that the site is called Petaling Street. I don't have pictures here so I took it from google okay.

I visited this place after Central Market.

5. KL Tower
The whole Saturday was raining that I almost can't get anywhere. We visited KL Tower in the morning and found out that the place is... just do not get there without budget. I forgot the price, maybe around RM 50 to go up and enjoy Kuala Lumpur 360 degree scenery from 400 metres height. If you don't come up, you will get almost nothing. I mean, it is not like Monas that we can enjoy it as landscape for free from its yard. Kuala Lumpur Tower is located in small hill in the middle of the town and is not available as photo background. And, personally, for me the place is creepy. I can hardly took picture here.

6. Bukit Bintang
Berjaya Times Square, Pavilion, Fahrenheit 88, for me, Jakarta's malls are much better.
As my friends asked me to buy some clutches, I came to Vincci (local Malaysian product, traded in Indonesia as VNC) store in Fahrenheit 88 and it offered good prices (cheaper than in Indonesia). If we show foreign passport, they will give 10% discount. Actually there is also Vincci store in KLIA2 with similar price and promotion, but without any 10% passport discount.

7. Petronas
I arrived there and then suddenly it is raining. Mood breaker. Went to hotel after taking some pictures. At 5 o'clock. And slept until next day.

8. Thean Hou Temple
This is Buddhist temple, located in southern KL.

9. Istana Negara
This is the Sultan's Palace.
10. Lapangan Merdeka

11. Transportation
Local transportation is good, especially bus. Many routes, cheap price (around RM 1 for short route), clean. Some bus even free of charge, called 'GO KL'. The color is light purple and routing within the city. I think it is initiated by government to promote its town.

I do not have any pictures of this.

But okay I mostly used taxi.

12. Tips
Driving car is better to reach tourists area (other than Bukit Bintang). Most tourists attraction are only reachable by personal transport, so many highways. Traffic within the city, especially in office before and after hours, yet still not as bad as in Jakarta.

Okey that's all hahaha. Personally, I don't get any reason why I have to go back there. Ciao!
